Our Policies
Mission Statement:
This is a community for individuals who share a passion for role-playing and collaborative environments. Our objective is to provide a safe and welcoming space for all who seek to explore their creativity and imagination through the power of storytelling. We strive to create a community that is not only entertaining and engaging, but also meaningful and transformative.
Disclaimer: By participating in any form of this community you agree to abide by and act in accordance with all official policies (including but not limited to the: mission statement, rules, guidelines, principles, and terms & conditions). It is expected of every member of this community to be aware of these policies and breaches may result in punishments, which in some cases could include permanent removal from the community. All regulations are subject to change and some circumstances may not be addressed in present text, so Mortals & Mythos reserves the right to act in the interest of the community to ensure an appropriate and safeguarded environment.
Conduct
Conduct and etiquette are vital for sensible interactions, fostering positive relationships, and guiding all actions within the community. It is expected that conduct is maintained at all times on any community mediums or related mediums.
- We are a Roleplay Community: Actions pursued should be done so in the benefit of collaborative storytelling and united roleplay environments by staying in-character and adhering to established lore and rules.
- Inclusivity for Everyone: Ensure others feel welcomed and safe to foster a supportive community. You do not always know what is going on behind a screen.
- Cooperation is our Foundation: Cooperation is essential for enjoyment. Ensure your actions enhance everyone's experiences and not just your own.
- Everyone has a Voice: Everyone has different backgrounds and are entitled to their own opinions, beliefs, and speech, and as long as it is not malicious or harmful then it should be respected.
- Creativity is Encouraged: Everyone is encouraged to express themselves creatively and add their own unique contributions to the roleplay environment.
- Be Responsible: You should take responsibility for your actions and your impact on the community. Own up to mistakes and work to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner.
Community
The community rules and guidelines are composed in a way that incorporates the core tenets and mission statement of the server. They serve to maintain a friendly and enjoyable environment for all members and ensure that playability, integrity, and respect are prioritized.
The following are prohibited on any server medium or related medium and infractions are not exclusive to the examples provided:
- Inappropriate communication is anything inappropriate communicated to others, such as spam, advertising of other servers, unacceptable content, and excessive cursing.
- Unfair advantages are those obtained through illegitimate means like the modification of a client maliciously, the use of unfair macros and scripts, exploiting glitches and bugs, logging out during combat, or punishment evasion like using an alternative account.
- Metagaming is using out-of-character knowledge or knowledge not known to the character to guide character actions (usually done so unfairly and sometimes accidentally). Examples include going to a friend's settlement to help defend if they texted you out-of-character, or knowing how to conduct surgery in-roleplay when the character has no medical history or experience.
- Powergaming is using an in-game mechanic or a roleplay concept to unrealistically or unfairly favor one's character. Examples include forcing roleplay actions on another character without giving them a chance to respond, or performing athletic abilities well outside of the character's range.
- Discrimination is the unjust treatment of others through personal attacks, such as what can be deemed as offensive or reasonably construed as such. Examples could include but are definitely not limited to: racist, sexist, transphobic, or homophobic content.
- Harassment is the persistent and inappropriate actions subjected to another individual or group to annoy, disrupt, or offend them. This could include bullying, impersonation, or intimidation.
- Wilful malice are actions taken with clear malicious intent. For example, encouraging rule-breaking, griefing, toxic actions out of character, and stealing out of character.
Safety
The safety policies are established to create a safe and mature environment that is protected by everyone and for everyone. These set the expectations of our limits and exceeding such is taken extremely seriously.
- All community mediums are 16+ environments and by joining this community you agree that your age is 16 or older. This policy is enforced due to the mature themes this server engages in.
- All community mediums prohibit explicit sexual activity which includes explicit sexual content in any form and both in roleplay as well as out of character. This also refers to sexual harassment, nonconsensual actions or content, and other highly inappropriate behaviour or themes both in roleplay and out of character.
- Personal information must not be shared without consent which also includes finding personal information on another member of the community, as well as the release of personal information regardless of intent. Personal information is any identifiable information that someone considers confidential.
- Attacking another member of the community is prohibited which includes but is not limited to out of character threats and encouraging harm, manipulation, and actions that can threaten the safety of another.
