Opulence depraves us, luxury seduces us, with its sordid promises.

This server is best described with dark-gritty, gothic themes. Heavily inferred tones of angst, depression contrasting with wonder and awe-inspiring are brought with the lore, in-game roleplay, and build styles; from monolithium constructs to steep mountains which pierce foggy skies. The mechanics of the server also spell out the necessity to take things carefully. Sometimes it is okay to run away.

When it comes to the server's story-beats, the DM team is trained to ensure one actually feels they are experiencing another world even within the limitations of Minecraft. Player's are our priority, there is limitless value in player-creativity, and communication between the DM and their player-audience. This mentality in our team extends further in the idea that players should have the lead in crafting the story with what building-blocks are provided by our plethora of content.

Beliefs and Expectations

Roleplaying on Mortal's and Mythos should be an experience like no other, that is the ideal goal myself and Chunky have set ourselves. Coinciding with our server's aesthetics, and world-writing themes, we happily suggest players from all heights of experience to be forthcoming with one another. An example of this would be to reach out to someone who might've inspired yourself, or intrigued you enough about their character. All it takes is a simple private message, maybe to start a character-arc which could lead to a very immersive collaborative experience.

Collaborative writing is one of the main key-focuses Mortal and Mythos does its best to attain within the community. The policies, rules and guidelines reflect this as well. It's understood that arguments may flare up, but a community that can boast effective communication with one another will obviously have drastically reduced issues, and more fun-times for all. Personally, I wanted Mortals and Mythos to be a place where everyone could learn how to write better. This is tandem with my love to teach, so even if English is your second language do not feel intimidated rather than welcomed.

There are a variety of roleplay mediums that players can attend to, from the likes of the usual; slice-of-life and combat to the more particular such as politics and our NPC-powerplay. It's suggested that all players try each genre/niche at least once within the confines of Mortals and Mythos, as after-all we focus on separating ourselves from the other places to be, a different experience entirely.

In regards specifically to our NPC-powerplay system, we intend for people to both capitalize and be privy to the consequences of things they do in the world around them when it comes to the in-game experience. NPC's will react to characters on an individual and group scale, in which it can cause unwanted, unexpected or expected consequences both good and bad. This is also facilitated in how politics are to be shaped and formed, albeit a majority of Political roleplay is to be generated by the player-base.

All in all, I suggest all players get into writing journals in-game. One of the concepts which make Mortal's and Mythos unique, is that we are sparse in how much information we give to players. Events, and libraries are where one can learn more about the world around them. Journals as I see it act as sleeping-lore pieces. When the character perishes, or even if they have changed drastically over time, their past writing cements themselves in the world even further, adding to the amount of content all newer players thereafter can read.

While not enforced, there should be some modicum of integrity when it comes to a more proactive approach to providing meaningful responses in roleplay. It is not expected for players to write novella-length emotes, but researching a little bit into say- the profession their character has invested into such as Woodworking, would go a long way in providing more immersion for all around. (helps in our Custom Item's system too!)
